The book Arunachal Pradesh: The Hidden Land authored by Mamang Dai, describes about the myths and beliefs practised in the state. She has written many other such book, poems for her state. She was born in the year 1957 and lives in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. She is the first woman from her state to be selected for IAS in 1979, but later on she left the post to pursue her dream in Journalism, which later on brought immense success in her life. While working as a journalist, she contributed to The Telegraph, Hindustan Times and The Sentinel. She has also worked with in radio, as well as TV-AIR and DDK, Itanagar. She received Padma Shri Award in 2011 and Sahitya Akademi Award in 2017. She is very much attached to her mother land, which can be seen from her works, like River Poems.
