Cooperative Society
Two villages adjacent to Kenbah and Kenmynsaw in the Mawsynram C & RD Block in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya forms the Kenbah-Kenmynsaw Handicraft Multipurpose Cooperative Society. The community started in 2007 with 22 registered members and has been growing ever since. The aim of the community was to create opportunities and a sustainable business that would generate income for the villages through the resources available in the area to develop the urban economy. The community works to produce and produce Cane and Bamboo products. Currently, there are approximately 200 local people employed as artists under the co-operative community. These artisans make co-operative handicrafts and sell them for themselves or for the public.
