Known by its scientific name Piper longum from the family plant Piperaceae. Health benefits of Pipli is that it cures dyspnoea, ascites, leprosy, diabetes, piles, indigestion, anemia, cardiac and spleen disorders, chronic fever and loss of appetite. Pipli plants grow well in tropical humid climate where temperature ranges between 30-40ºC in summer and 4-10ºC in winters with an average rainfall of 2000 – 3500 mm. Important parts for commercial purpose are roots and inflorescences(dried spikes) of the plant.
