Grapes

Mizoram is one of the largest grape producer in the country and almost 80% of the farmers of the state are engaged in grape cultivation. Grape can be used for table fresh fruit, jam, grape juice, jelly, grape seed extract making wines and preparation of raisin. vinegar and grape seed oil. The fruit contains about 20% sugar in easily digestible form besides being rich in vitamins and minerals. There are varied colour and form of grapes like red, green and purple grapes. Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is putting the best efforts to bring North-Eastern States on the agricultural and export map of the country and thus recently supported in exporting the well known ‘Leteku’ (Burmese grapes, known in Assamese language) to Dubai. There is a high scope of profitable business of grapes in future for the northeast region of the country.
